In collaboration with several clinics which do presurgical planning for
epilepsy , especially the Presurgical Monitoring Unit, Bethel, the Department
of Neurology has an active program for non-invasive presurgical mappings.
This involves especially positron emmission tomography (PET) with desoxyglucose.
More than 600 patient have been measured since 1993. The investigations
have shown that these investigations gives very helpfull information for
localization of the epileptic focus. In additions to measurements of brain
metabolism, also quantitative volumetric studies from magnetic resonance
investigations and magnetoencephalographic investigations are performed.
